On Monday, June 27, 2016, at 8 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will host a telephone town hall meeting with Iowans from northwest Iowa. Telephone town hall meetings provide Senator Grassley with another means to communicate with Iowans beyond his annual 99 county meetings, and his commitment to answer every phone call, email and letter from Iowans.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “One Year After Enactment: Implementation of the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015.” Grassley cosponsored the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015 and shepherded it through the Judiciary Committee and the Senate.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts hearing on “Willful Blindness: Consequences of Agency Efforts to Deemphasize Radical Islam in Combating Terrorism.”

On Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “Protecting Older Americans from Financial Exploitation.” Financial crimes against America’s elders strip them of $2.9 billion per year, making financial exploitation the most widespread form of elder abuse. In May, Grassley sent a letter to the Department of Justice Elder Justice Initiative Coordinator seeking information on how the Department and the Initiative are working to prevent and deter such crimes. Donna Harvey, the Director of the Iowa Department on Aging, and Karla Sibert of Palo, the daughter of elderly victims of financial exploitation, will testify at the hearing.

On Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 9:45 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over an executive business meeting of the Judiciary Committee. The committee may consider Carole Schwartz Rendon to be United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Immediately following the dispensation of the nominee, the Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on “Oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.”  The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, will testify.
