Here is Sen. Grassley's comment:
"It is disappointing to see rejection of a reform that would let the sun shine in to the people's business in the United States Senate.
"The amendment Sen. Wyden and I advanced would not infringe on the power of any senator to object to any matter before the Senate. It would simply put his or her point of view on the public record.
"In my view, greater openness in government leads to greater accountability in government. While our amendment will not become law this year, I urge my colleagues to join Sen. Wyden and me by adopting the straightforward practice of publicly announcing any hold we may place as individual senators."
