Iowa Projects Included in Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Funding Bill


Parkersburg, Iowa City to receive money for roads due to tornado, flood damage


             WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that several Iowa projects were included in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development spending bill that was passed by the Senate Appropriation Committee today.

 

            “This bill covers a lot of territory by enhancing economic and community development as well as transportation needs.  These projects will improve the quality of life for residents in every corner of Iowa,” Grassley said. 

 

            The bill must now be passed by the full Senate and then reconciled with the bill that passed the House of Representatives. 

 

            Here are a list of Iowa projects included in the bill.

 

Allison, Homeward, Inc.,Rural Community Construction Finance Loan Program , $200,000 -- To support a housing construction finance program that will provide low interest loans.

Cedar Rapids, Collins Road improvements,$1million -- To design and construct improvements for 2.1 miles of Collins Road, including improvements to arterial side streets.

Coralville, Coralville Intermodal Facility, $750,000 – To complete design and construction of the intermodal facility.

Council Bluffs, Historic Neighborhoods Housing Rehabilitation, $350,000 -- To rehabilitate housing for low and moderate income residents surrounding downtown Council Bluffs.

Davenport, Transit Maintenance Garage Initiative, $700,000 – To construct a transit maintenance garage to link the physical needs of transit as well as the need for a more seamless management of transit/bus operations and maintenance

Des Moines, Southeast Connector, $2 million – To construct a complete street divided arterial

Roadway.


Dubuque

, Southwest Arterial, $400,000 – To construct a 6.1 mile, 4-lane divided, hard-surface freeway facility on a new alignment between Highways 61, 51 and 20 with priority 1-access control.

Iowa City
, Park Road Bridge Replacement and Dubuque Street Elevation Project,            $1.5 million – To elevate Dubuque Street and the Park Road Bridge well-above the 100 year flood plain.

Iowa Department of Transportation, Bus and Bus Facilities,$3,450,000

Parkersburg, Iowa Highway 14-57 Complete Streets Corridor Improvements, $2 million – To repair, replace, and improve the corridor with curbs and gutters, storm water improvements, landscaping, lighting, pedestrian and/or trail improvements, intersection improvements, and an asphalt overlay.


Polk County

, Northwest 66th Avenue Reconstruction, $600,000 – To reconstruct road from an existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-loane roadway and replace existing 50-year old bridge over the Des Moines River with a 4-lane bridge that will also accommodate pedestrian and bike traffic.

Sioux City, Interstate I-29 reconstruction and Utility Relocation Project, $1million – To reconstruct 12 mile segment of I-29 through Sioux City.

Waverly, 10th Avenue South Corridor Extension, $500,000 – To initiate the consultant engineering work, including hydrologic analysis, geotechnical investigation, design development, permitting assistance, and right-of-way acquisition.

West Des Moines, Iowa Technology Corridor West Grand Avenue Extension, $600,000 – To acquire right-of-way and construct two new roadways.
