WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) met with the Jackson County Prevention Coalition in Washington, D.C. this week to discuss policies and strategies to address and reduce drug and alcohol abuse by America’s youth, and to recognize the coalition for its service and success.
The Jackson County Prevention Coalition was named Coalition of the Year by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) for its successful implementation of strategies within the community to address underage substance use. The Jackson County Prevention Coalition has demonstrated long term positive outcomes in its efforts to reduce youth substance abuse by organizing parental and community member education and training sessions, forming youth advocacy programs and hosting public events and town hall meetings focused on alcohol policies.
“Substance abuse destroys families and claims thousands of lives every year. Thankfully, organizations like the Jackson County Prevention Coalition work to intervene and target substance misuse from a young age. I commend the Jackson County Prevention Coalition for its hard work and successful efforts in the community to promote a safer environment and provide greater opportunities for Iowa’s youth,” Grassley said.
