WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that Iowa State University and the University of Iowa have received competitive grants totaling $1,228,568 from the National Science Foundation.
According to the National Science Foundation, Iowa State University received $1,199,858 to fund the project entitled, “NEESR-CR: Unbonded Post-Tensioned Rocking Walls for Seismic Resilient Structures.”
According to the National Science Foundation, the University of Iowa received $28,710 to fund the project entitled, “"Collaborative Research: Galilei and Poincare Invariant Calculations of the Three Nucleon System.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
