More Than $1 Million to University of Iowa

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the University of Iowa has received two grants totaling $1,268,361 from the National Science Foundation.

According to the National Science Foundation, the university will use $1,100,767 to fund the project entitled, “The Emergence of Cognitive Flexibility in Neural-Behavioral Systems,” and $167,594 to fund the project entitled, "The Role of Cardiac Caveolae in Healthy and Diseased Hearts.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
