More Than $120,000 to Iowa from the Department of Commerce


WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded two grants totaling $124,000 to Iowa through the Economic Development District Planning Program.  


The Mid Iowa Development Association Council of Governments, which serves Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster and Wright counties, will receive $61,000.  The Southern Iowa Council of Governments, which serves Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor and Union counties, will receive $63,000.


According to the Economic Development Administration, Economic Development District Planning grants support the development and implementation of comprehensive development strategies.  With this program, the Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource for distressed communities throughout the United States.
