WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded funding totaling $4,117,850 to Iowa.
The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:
• Belmond will receive $93,937 for four new storm sewer lift stations and a backflow preventer.
• Bondurant-Farrar Community School District will receive $1,108,968 for a safe room.
• Northeast Community School District in Goose Lake will receive $1,857,633 for a safe room.
“These funds should increase the safety and disaster management of these communities,” Grassley said.
FEMA obligates funding for these projects directly to the state. It is the state's responsibility to ensure that the eligible sub-grantees receive these awards. FEMA contributes 75 percent of the total cost of a project. State and local entities contribute the other 25 percent.
