More Than $9,000 to AgriWellness

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $9,108 grant to AgriWellness in Harlan.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, this grant will help fund a joint conference with the National Association for Rural Mental Health.  Conference attendees will focus on enhancing rural mental health and substance abuse services and supporting behavioral healthcare providers in underserved rural areas.

Each year, local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
