Nearly $2 Million to University of Iowa

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two grants totaling $1,956,031 to the University of Iowa.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the university will receive $1,458,033 from the National Institute on Aging to fund the project entitled, “Interpreting IV Estimates with Treatment Effect Heterogeneity: ACE/ARBs & Race,” and $497,998 from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to fund the project entitled, “Epidemiology of rural MRSA: is livestock contact a risk factor?”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
