Nearly $7 Million to Iowa Airports


WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded five grants totaling $6,974,588 to Iowa airports.



“This funding will help improve safety and service at Iowa’s local airports and help provide important economic development opportunities for the communities,” Grassley said.



The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded funds to facilitate various airport improvement projects, as described below.



•The Cedar Rapids Airport Commission in Cedar Rapids will receive a $5,302,311 grant to help rehabilitate a runway at The Eastern Iowa Airport.

•The Clinton Airport Commission will receive a $540,527 grant to help relocate the localizer that will provide a clear runway safety area at Clinton Municipal Airport and a $215,000 grant to acquire land to allow the localizer to be moved outside of the runway safety area.

•Des Moines will receive an $855,000 grant to help construct a new runway at Des Moines International Airport.

•Perry will receive a $61,750 grant to help update the master plan to analyze changes and identify future growth requirements at Perry Municipal Airport.
