$74,776 to University of Iowa from U.S. Department of Education


WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $74,776 grant to the University of Iowa through the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program.



According to the Department of Education, the University of Iowa will use the grant to funds to develop and implement a program to increase Russian linguistic and cultural competency for 12 University of Iowa students of Russian who will study intensively for nine weeks at the University of Iowa and Moscow.  The money will also help train and certify three University of Iowa instructors of Russian as Test of Russian as a Foreign Language Testers for two weeks in Moscow.



The Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program provides grants to support overseas projects in training, research and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and are studies for teachers, students, and faculty.  Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or advanced intensive language programs.
