WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two grants totaling $1,997,414 to Iowa.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will distribute the money as shown below.
• Iowa State University in Ames will receive $1,307,414 for allergy, immunology, and transplantation research from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
• Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging, Inc. in Waterloo will receive $690,000 for a consumer protection technical resource center from the Administration on Aging
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
