Over $3 Million to Iowa Airports


WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded nine grants totaling $3,120,986 to Iowa airports.

 

“This funding is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.

 

The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:

 

• Schenck Field in Clarinda will receive $460,846 for hangar construction

• Clarion Municipal Airport will receive $144,238 for taxiway rehabilitation

• Creston Municipal Airport will receive $171,000 for acquisition of snow removal equipment

• Dubuque Regional Airport will receive $950,000 for runway safety area improvements

• Estherville Municipal Airport will receive $117,135 for access road rehabilitation

• Fairfield Municipal Airport will receive $142,500 for a master plan update

• Fort Dodge Regional Airport will receive $262,667 for runway rehabilitation

• Mason City Municipal Airport will receive $24,463 for runway incursion markings

• Oelwein Municipal Airport will receive $371,907 for construction of a building to store snow removal equipment

• Osceola Municipal Airport will receive $127,012 for hangar and taxiway construction

• Pella Municipal Airport will receive $86,450 for runway rehabilitation

• Waverly Municipal Airport will receive $262,768 for runway and apron rehabilitation

 

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
