Southeast Iowa Regional Airport in Burlington Gets New Carrier, Destinations

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has announced that the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport in Burlington will be getting a new carrier and flight destinations.

“The suggestions from city, county and airport leaders pointed the U.S. DOT toward the proposal from Air Choice One,” Grassley said. “The new carrier and destinations should help the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport continue to provide regional travelers with airline services.”

Southeast Iowa Regional Airport will be switching from flights on Great Lakes Airlines with service to Kansas City to flights on Air Choice One with service to Chicago and St. Louis.

The U.S. Department of Transportation received and reviewed letters from Burlington, West Burlington, the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors and the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport that were in support of the Air Choice One proposal over those from Gulfstream and the current carrier, Great Lakes. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, service to Chicago O’Hare was an important factor in the switch.
