WASHINGTON - Chuck Grassley today noted that workers from Kenco Logistic Services in Webster City who provided third party logistic services for Electrolux in Webster City, including on-site leased workers from Spherion Staffing Services and Manpower in Webster City are eligible to apply for benefits under the Trade Adjustment Assistance program.
“This assistance will help provide workers with new skills and training so they can get back on their feet and compete for new jobs in the future,” Grassley said. “As a result of the reform of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program that I co-authored and worked to get through Congress last year, certified workers at the Kenco Logistic Services who provided services for Electrolux are eligible for expanded income support and can draw from an increased pool of training funds.”
The Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009 was signed into law by the President last year.
Workers from Kenco Logistic Services who provided third party logistic services for Electrolux, including on-site leased workers from Spherion Staffing Services and Manpower who totally or partially lost their jobs on or after November 5, 2008, through January 8, 2012 and all workers in the group threatened with total or partial separation from employment on the date of certification through two years from the date of certification, are eligible to apply for adjustment assistance.
Workers can access these benefits by going to the local one-stop career center. The closest career center can be found by visiting www.servicelocator.org and entering a worker’s home zip code. The closest one-stop career center to Webster City is the Iowa Workforce Development Center located at 403 Elm Street in Webster City.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is a federal program that provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports or job outsourcing abroad. The Trade Adjustment Assistance program offers a variety of benefits and reemployment services to help unemployed workers prepare for and obtain suitable employment. Workers may be eligible for training, job search and relocation allowances, income support, and other reemployment services.
