$17,000 to Iowa from the USDA


WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded two competitive grants totaling $17,000 to Iowa through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant program and the Water and Waste Disposal Grant program.

 

"This funding will help provide important wastewater infrastructure for Columbus Junction as well as help keep Battle Creek residents safe during inclement weather," Grassley said.

 

            USDA will distribute the money as shown below.

 

·         Battle Creek will receive $7,000 through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant program to help purchase an outdoor weather early warning system.

·         Eastern Iowa Regional Utility Service Systems Commission in Dubuque will receive $10,000 through the Water and Waste Disposal Grant program to help complete construction of a waste water collection and treatment system for Columbus Junction.

 

The Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program provides grants to eligible communities with populations under 20,000 to assist them with projects that will provide an economic stimulus to their community.

 

The Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program provides funding to develop water and waste disposal, including solid waste disposal and storm drainage, systems in rural areas and towns with a population not in excess of 10,000.
