$174,208 to University of Iowa from U.S. Department of Education

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $174,208 grant to the University of Iowa through the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need program.

"These funds will help PhD students at the University of Iowa earn their degrees in engineering," Grassley said.

The University of Iowa will use the funds to help pay for PhD training for six fellows at the College of Engineering.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need program provides fellowships, through academic departments, to assist graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue the highest degree available in their course study at the institution in a field designated as an area of national need.
