$185,000 to Iowa State University from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

WASHINGTON –Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $185,000 competitive grant to Iowa State University in Ames.

Iowa State University will use the money from the National Center for Research Resources to help pay for a project titled, “Development of a novel porcine model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
