$19,599 to Bristow from USDA

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development awarded a $19,599 competitive grant to Bristow through the Community Facilities Grant Program.

“Volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line to help others in distress.  These funds will help Bristow purchase necessary emergency equipment for the volunteer firefighters,” Grassley said.

Bristow will use the money to help purchase firefighting equipment including air packs and turnout gear for 22 volunteer firefighters.

The Community Facilities Grant program provides grants to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
