$221,630 in Loans and Grants to Iowa


WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded loans and grants totaling $221,630 through the Community Facilities Loan and Grant Program.

 

"These funds will help purchase, build or make necessary improvements to facilities important to these rural communities," Grassley said.

 

·        Buffalo Center will receive a $100,000 grant to help construct a community center, museum and purchase related equipment. Winnebago County was declared a Presidential Disaster area for both individual and community assistance.

·        Sunshine Services in Spencer will receive a $39,630 direct loan to help complete the purchase and renovate an existing building to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of the facility which serves persons with disabilities.  The loan will be for 40 years at 4.375 percent interest.

·        Riverton will receives an $82,000 grant to help construct a multi-use facility that will serve as the community's fire station, city hall and community center. Fremont County was declared a Presidential Disaster area for both individual and community assistance.

 

The Community Facilities Loan and Grant program provides grants, loans and loan guarantees to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.
