$2.5 Million to Iowa Highways

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration has awarded two grants totaling $2,500,000 to Iowa.

“This funding is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of Iowa highways, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.

The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by county:

• Scott will receive $1,000,000 to improve traffic operations and provide a safe facility that serves local, regional and national traffic demands of the I-74 corridor.

• Woodbury will receive $1,500,000 to improve traffic operations and provide a safe facility that serves local, regional and national traffic demands of the I-29 corridor.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
