$299,940 in loans and grants to Iowa from USDA


 

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded competitive loans and grants totaling $299,940 to Iowa through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program and the Farm Labor Housing Loan Program.

 

 "This money will help create jobs for Iowans and stimulate and sustain economic growth in Larchwood and Anthon," Grassley said.

 

The Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program provides grants to eligible communities with populations under 20,000 to assist them with projects that will provide an economic stimulus to their community.

 

The Farm Labor Housing Loan and Grant program provides capital financing for the development of housing for domestic farm laborers.

 

The loan and grant funds from the Office of Rural Development will be distributed as shown below.

 

·                     Anthon will receive a $9,940 grant through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program to help purchase a new emergency warning siren with a battery backup.

·                     Stensland Brothers Dairy in Larchwood will receive a $290,000 loan through the Farm Labor Housing Loan Program to help purchase two houses for farm laborers.  The loan will be for 33 years at one percent interest.
