$374,200 to Iowa for Economic Development


  

            WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that Iowa received six competitive grants totaling $374,200 from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.

 

“These funds should help generate economic growth and new jobs in Iowa,” Grassley said.

 

            The funds will help establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.

 

·        The Area 15 Regional Planning Commission in Ottumwa will receive $64,840 for Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Van Buren, Wapello and Wayne counties.

·        The North Iowa Area Council of Governments in Mason City will receive $64,840 for Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago and Worth counties.

·        The Mid Iowa Development Association Council of Governments in Fort Dodge will receive $64,840 for Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster, and Wright counties.

·        Iowa Northland Regional Economic Development Commission in Waterloo will receive $64,840 for Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, and Grundy counties.

·        Southwest Iowa Planning Council in Atlantic will receive $63,840, for Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Montgomery, Page and Shelby counties.

·        Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission in Postville will receive $51,000 for Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties.
