WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $299,975 Small Business Innovation Research competitive grant to Bioprotection Systems Corporation in Ames.
Bioprotection Systems Corporation will use the money to help pay for an allergy, immunology and transplantation research project titled, “Development of Multivalent Vaccines Against Yellow Fever and Arena Viruses.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
