$31,819 to Burlington from U.S. Department of Justice


WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has released a $31,819 grant to Burlington through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. 

 

"These funds will help law enforcement in Burlington increase efficiency and reduce crime in the community," Grassley said.

 

Burlington and Des Moines County will use the money to help upgrade or replace the current communications radios, phone system, radio and phone recording systems and console replacement at the Des Moines County Communications Center.

 

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system.  The funds can be used to help pay for technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems for criminal justice.
