WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has awarded a $321,064 grant to the Iowa Eighth Judicial District in Fairfield through the Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program.
"These funds will help the court provide assistance to non-violent drug offenders and get them the help they need to beat their drug addiction," Grassley said.
The Iowa Eighth Judicial District will use the money to help provide services for post-conviction non-violent clients, eighteen years of age or older who face revocation to prison, excluding DWI and sex offenders.
The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program helps develop and establish drug courts for substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders.
