$399,955 to the University of Iowa from the National Science Foundation

WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the University of Iowa has received a $399,955 competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.

The University of Iowa will use the money to help pay for a research project titled, "Enhancing Hydro-NEXRAD: Community Resource for Use of Radar-Rainfall Data."  System upgrades and expansions of the data sets should help Hydro-NEXRAD better serve as a research and teaching tool that provides radar-rainfall data to be used by the public and private sectors in the areas of hydrology, agriculture, engineering design, ecology, forestry and urban planning.
