$402,029 Released to Iowa for Housing Counseling


WASHINGTON — Senator Chuck Grassley today said that $402,029.07 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was released to Iowa through the Housing Counseling Program.

 

"These funds will help provide useful guidance and information to those in need of housing counseling," Grassley said. "Iowans will be well served through this help from Housing and Urban Development."

 

The Housing Counseling Program helps provide delivery of many housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, low-to moderate-income renters and the homeless providing guidance and advice to help families and individuals improve their housing conditions, meet the responsibilities of tenancy and homeownership and avoid inflated appraisals, unreasonably high interest rates, unaffordable repayment terms and other conditions which can result in a loss of equity, increased debt, default and eventually foreclosure.

 

The allocation of funds is as follows:

 

  • Center for Siouxland receives $67,174.25
  • Family Management Credit Counselors receives $60,000
  • Home Opportunities Made Easy receives $63,796
  • Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement receives $20,000
  • Iowa Finance Authority receives $171,058.82
  • United Neighbors receives $20,000
