$46,100 to Pomeroy Palmer Community School from USDA

WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development awarded a $46,100 competitive grant to Pomeroy Palmer Community School through the Community Facilities Grant Program.

“These funds will help improve childcare services in Pomeroy for kids up to the age of 12,” Grassley said.

Pomeroy Palmer Community School will use the money to help provide childcare services to 34 children ranging from birth to 12 years old by making improvements such as razing the existing bus barn on the child care site, renovating the existing childcare structure, and constructing an addition to the childcare structure.

The Community Facilities Grant program provides grants to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
