WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a $479,930 competitive grant to Perry Municipal Airport.
Perry will use the funds for hangar construction.
“As communities look to bring jobs to the area, airports are often an important incentive,” Grassley said. “Safe and convenient airports provide additional economic development opportunities for communities like Ottumwa.”
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
