WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded competitive grants totaling $491,422 to Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.
The funds will be distributed as shown below.
· Iowa State University will receive $342,817 from the National Eye Institute to help pay for a research project titled, “Stem Cell-Mediated Delivery of Neurotrophic Factors for Treatment of Glaucoma.”
· The University of Iowa will receive $148,605 from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to help pay for a research project titled, “Dentin Fluoride as a Biomarker for Childhood Fluoride Intake.”
