$499,770 to Iowa from Department of Education

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $499,770 grant to the University of Iowa.

According to the Department of Education, the university will use the money to fund the REACH OUT program, which is part of an initiative that helps students with intellectual disabilities complete a two-year certificate program.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
