WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded competitive grants totaling $499,879 to Allen College in Waterloo, Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and to the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
The funds will be distributed as shown below.
· Allen College will receive $38,007 to help provide scholarships for disadvantaged students.
· Indian Hills Community College will receive $147,749 to help provide scholarships for disadvantaged students.
· University of Iowa will receive three grants totaling $126,623 to help provide scholarships for disadvantaged students.
· University of Iowa will receive $187,500 from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to help pay for an oral diseases and disorders research project titled, "Novel Chimeric RNA Aptamer Technology to Treat Hand and Neck Cancer."
