WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded $50,000 to the University of Iowa through the Erma Byrd Scholarship Program.
The purpose of the Erma Byrd Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to individuals pursuing a course of study that will lead to a career in industrial health and safety occupations.
“Iowa students should benefit from the opportunities this funding makes possible,” Grassley said.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
