$61,000 to Iowa Development Agency

WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded a $61,000 investment to the Area 15 Regional Planning Commission, which serves Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren and Wapello counties.

The commission will use the funds to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the counties it serves.

“These funds should help area counties establish a roadmap for bringing economic development to the region,” Grassley said.

According to the Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the U.S. Its mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
