WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley today said that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $674,048 competitive grant to Linn Community Care in Cedar Rapids.
“Community health centers provide primary and preventive health care services to medically underserved areas,” Grassley said.
Grassley co-sponsored the Health Centers Renewal Act which reauthorized the health centers program for another five years and strengthened and expanded health centers in order to care for nearly 30 million patients. Many Iowa communities have benefitted from the federal investment of health centers, and other communities are looking to start new centers.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
