WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $69,660 grant to the University of Iowa through the E.U. – U.S. Atlantis Program.
The university will use the funds to explore and map current practice and trends in vocational education and training within the digital creative industries.
According to the Department of Education, the purpose of the E.U. – U.S. Atlantis Program is to provide grants to eligible applicants to improve postsecondary education. This competition is designed to support the formation of educational consortia of American and European institutions to support cooperation in curricula, the exchange of students, and the opening of educational opportunities between the U.S. and the E.U.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
