WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that Dubuque received a $7,727 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.
“These funds should help Dubuque create a plan to address some of the redevelopment issues of a unique and historic area of town,” Grassley said. “This public and private partnership should serve Iowa’s economic interests well.”
Dubuque will use the funds to help complete a master plan to revitalize the city’s historic Millwork Warehouse District. The plan should address the district’s heating, cooling, and power solutions for redeveloping more than one million square feet of underutilized land into a residential neighborhood with retail and service businesses.
The Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States through the promotion of innovation and competitiveness and preparing regions for growth and success in the global economy.
