$7,815 to the University of Iowa from the U.S. Department of Commerce

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology has awarded a grant totaling $7,815 to the University of Iowa through the 2009 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program.

“These funds will provide a great experience for a University of Iowa student to help conduct research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology laboratory,” Grassley said.

The University of Iowa will use the funds to support a summer undergraduate research fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Information Technology Laboratory.

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program brings undergraduate students to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland for 12 weeks to help contribute to an ongoing research project under the guidance of a National Institute of Standards and Technology scientist or engineer.
