WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded three competitive grants totaling $935,500 to the University of Iowa.
The University of Iowa will use the funds as shown below.
· $198,000 from the National Cancer Institute to help pay for a cancer cause and prevention research project titled, "Novel Suppressors of Pancreatic Cancer."
· $375,000 from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to help pay for a heart and vascular diseases research project titled, "CaMKII in Sinus Node Physiology and Disease."
· $362,500 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to help pay for a diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic research project titled, "Regulatory Control of Metabolic Flexibility in Skeletal Muscle."
