WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two competitive grants totaling $976,773 to the University of Iowa.
The University of Iowa will receive the grant funds as described below.
· $648,648 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for a project titled, "H. influenza: Role of Sialic Acid in Virulence."
· $328,125 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to help pay for a clinical research project related to neurological disorders titled, "Evaluating PRICKLE Mutations in Human Epilepsy and in Animal Models."
