WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded nine grants totaling $1,942,556 to Iowa airports.
“This funding will help increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as bring additional economic development opportunities to these communities,” Grassley said.
The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:
• Bloomfield Municipal Airport will receive $274,587 for runway rehabilitation
• Dubuque Regional Airport will receive $28,500 for a pavement condition survey
• Maquoketa Municipal Airport will receive $112,109 for access road and parking lot rehabilitation
• Pocahontas Municipal Airport will receive $156,750 for acquisition of snow removal equipment
• Red Oak Municipal Airport will receive $50,000 for runway rehabilitation
• Rockwell City Municipal Airport will receive $395,124 for runway rehabilitation
• Sheldon Municipal Airport will receive $47,986 for a master plan study
• Waterloo Municipal Airport will receive $830,000 for acquisition of snow removal and aircraft deicing equipment
• Webster City Municipal Airport will receive $47,500 for runway extension
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
