WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency released grant guidance and application materials for the 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program.
The application period opened today at 8 a.m. ET and will close Friday, March 6, 2009 at 5 p.m. ET. The Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program guidance and application materials are available at www.firegrantsupport.com.
The Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program is a component of the Department’s Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program, which provides funding to mitigate deaths and injuries to the public and firefighters caused by fire and fire-related hazards. Approximately $35 million in fiscal 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety grants will be awarded. The Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program also supports firefighter safety research and development activities.
