$950,451 to University of Iowa for Education Research Program

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $950,451 grant to the University of Iowa through the National Center for Education Research Program.

“These funds will allow the University of Iowa to research an educational approach that may improve science literacy and science education,” Grassley said.

The University of Iowa will use the funds to help pay for an education research program titled, “Efficacy of the Science Writing Heuristic Approach.” The research program will embed science arguments within typical inquiry lessons to improve students’ understandings of science, directly addressing the critical national need for science literacy and improved science education.
