Grassley: $110,922 to Iowa for Forensic Analysis from U.S. Department of Justice


  

           WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has awarded a $110,922 grant to the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy through the Paul Coverdell National Forensic Sciences Improvement Act Formula Grant Program.

 

“These funds will help authorities continue to keep our communities safe by examining evidence in a quicker and more thorough manner,” Grassley said.

 

            According to the Justice Department, the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy will use the funds to improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science and medical examiner services to eliminate backlogs in the analysis of forensic evidence which includes controlled substances, firearms examination, forensic pathology, latent prints, questioned documents, toxicology and trace evidence.
