Grassley: $194,699 to Iowa from USDA
WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded grants totaling $194,699 to Alta, the Iowa Cooperative Foundation,
North Buena Vista and the Winnebago-Worth Counties Betterment Council through the Community Facility Grant Program, the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program and the Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program.
“These funds are all important to the economic, health and safety welfare for these communities and the residents,” Grassley said.
The grant funds from the Office of Rural Development will be distributed as shown below.
- - A $8,700 grant to Alta through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant to purchase emergency services equipment for the Alta Fire Department.
- - A $74,999 grant to the Iowa Cooperative Foundation in Ames through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program to fund technical assistance to explore the feasibility of a cooperative health insurance program for rural residents and other citizens.
- - A $13,000 grant to North Buena Vista through the Community Facility Grant Program to purchase a warning siren and other protection equipment to warn residents of impending severe weather.
- - A $98,000 grant to the Winnebago-Worth Counties Betterment Council in Lake Mills through the Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program to create a revolving loan fund to assist small and emerging businesses in Winnebago and Worth counties. This project will create 61 jobs and save 25 jobs.
