Grassley: $383,187 to Iowa for Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that $383,187 in funds have been released from the U.S. Department of Education for the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra Association through the Fund for the Improvement of Education Earmark Grant Awards Program. The funds were appropriated through the fiscal 2008 appropriations bill.

“These funds will help Iowans, especially younger Iowans, get involved with music,” Grassley said. “Music is an excellent way for kids to be creative and productive.”

The Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra will provide the excitement and beauty of classical music to Iowa’s citizens, especially children and youth, through a coordinated program of live concerts, in-school and after-school activities, role modeling, and mentoring.
