Grassley Accepts Applications for U.S. Attorney Position

Vacancy in Iowa's Northern District

WASHINGTON — Sen. Chuck Grassley today said that Iowans interested in applying to be a U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa should send their applications to his Cedar Rapids office by November 17.

Grassley said he wants to make sure that all Iowans are aware of the opportunity to serve. He invited those interested in applying to let him know of their interest before November 17 by sending their applications to him at 206 Federal Building, 101 First Street, SE, Cedar Rapids, 52401, Attention: Mary Day.

The vacancy in the U.S. Attorney's office was created when current U.S. Attorney Charles Larson, Sr. announced his retirement. His service ends December 31, 2006.

"I encourage anyone with an interest in serving our country as a U.S. Attorney to apply," Grassley said. "U.S. Attorneys are an important part of our federal law enforcement efforts and I will be looking for highly qualified people to serve in this position."

U.S. Attorneys prosecute federal criminal and civil rights cases. The northern district is based in Cedar Rapids.
