Grassley Announces $243,000 to Iowa for Economic Development Administration


  

WASHINGTON
– Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration is awarding $243,000 in grants to five communities in Iowa through the Economic Development Administration’s local technical assistance, short-term planning, and partnership planning programs.

 

            “These projects will generate growth and preserve these communities’ economic vitality,” Grassley said.

 

The five communities being awarded grants are listed below:

 


  • --Burlington-

    The Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission was awarded a grant of $15,000 to develop a business incubator program with Southeastern Community College. The program is expected to create and retain 100 jobs through technical assistance for the development and growth of small and medium start-up businesses.

  • --Dubuque-

    Dubuque was awarded a grant of $75,000 to establish a redevelopment plan for the Dubuque Warehouse District. The Warehouse District is expected to create 500 jobs.

  • --Ottumwa-

    The Area 15 Regional Planning Commission was awarded a grant of $51,000 to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy. The strategy is expected to help support private capital investment and job creation as well as diversify and strengthen the regional economy.

  • --Postville-

    The Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission was awarded a grant of $51,000 to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy. The strategy is expected to help support private capital investment and job creation as well as diversify and strengthen the regional economy.

  • --Waterloo-

    The Iowa Northland Regional Economic Development was awarded a grant of $51,000 to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy. The strategy is expected to help support private capital investment and job creation as well as diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
